As an event raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital, we are very conscious of anything that could adversely impact the health and wellness of our participants.
We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience at Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids, and we need the help of every participant to create a safe event environnment for all.
Please stay safe at Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids by following COVIDsafe practices, and by encouraging your family members and friends to do the same.
COVIDsafe information is subject to change, so please check back regularly for updates.
Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids is subject to a COVIDsafe event plan and event approval by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Stay at home if you are unwell
Public health authorities advise all people to stay at home if they are unwell or display any symptoms of COVID-19 infection.
Please seek medical advice and testing for COVID-19 if you displaying any of the following symptoms:
- fever
- cough
- sore throat
- shortness of breath
- fatigue

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE
Maintaining physical distance is everyone’s responsibility.
Please remember to keep your distance from others while training and participating in Run for the Kids.
Start zones will be carefully managed to ensure the event meets social distancing guidelines. Please help out by assembling in the start zone that matches the colour of your race bib.

PLEASE DON’T ATTEND R4K if the following apply to you:
- You have tested postive for COVID-19
- You have been in close contact with a person who is positive for COVID-19
- You are awaiting results of a COVID-19 test
- You have travelled overseas or to a declared COVID-19 Hotspot in the previous 14 days

SANITISE YOUR HANDS
Practice good hand hygiene. Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds using soap and water and make use of hand sanitiser
Hand sanitiser stations will be located throughout the Run for the Kids precinct.

WEAR A MASK
Please remember to bring a mask with you.
Please wear your mask to the event (especially if you are catching public transport), within the start precinct and anywhere else that you find it difficult to social distance.

Check in when you arrive
There will be various check-in locations around the Event Precinct in Docklands.
Please be sure to download the Services Victoria App before arriving at the Event, so you can scan quickly and easily.

Take notice of COVID MESSAGING
Prior to the Event, COVIDsafe messages will be shared by event newsletters and social media.
On Event day, public address systems and digital screens will be used in the start precinct, finish precinct and along the course routes to communicate information around COVIDsafe practices in place.
Please read and listen to the messaging and follow directions to keep everyone COVIDsafe.

BRING A WATER BOTTLE
Bring your own water bottle to use during your event.
Water cups will be available at aid stations throughout the course, however, we recommend entrants bring their own water bottle where possible.

PLEASE LEAVE EXTRA ITEMS AT HOME
Where possible, please minimise any additional items you bring to the event.
A small, contactless baggage service will be available for entrants, but for both COVIDsafe and security reasons, anything placed in baggage bays must be placed inside a clear, zip seal bag no large than A3.

SPECTATOR LIMITS
Access to the Event Precinct will be limited to entrants only. This measure is to assist with contact tracing, should the need arise.
Recommended locations for spectators will be shared with all entrants in early August.

ARRIVE, PARTICIPATE AND SUPPORT A LOCAL BUSINESS
Once you have completed your event, please depart the Event Precinct and support a local Docklands cafe or restaurant.
This will help maximise the number of entrants that can enjoy Run for the Kids, while supporting some businesses who have had a tough time.

IF YOU FEEL UNWELL WHILE AT RUN FOR THE KIDS
Please seek immediate assistance from the nearest COVID Marshal, Volunteer, Event staff member or Security guard.
All these staff will be easily identifable, and will provide appropriate assistance.
