Other Access
Emergency Vehicle Access
At all times, the traffic management strategy seeks to maintain direct and convenient emergency vehicular access around the routes. In circumstances of emergency access requirements specifically along the event routes, it is anticipated that relevant sections will be made available by event organisers and the Victoria Police.
Taxi Access
Taxi vehicles will have the same access restrictions as per the general public in terms of road closures and traffic diversions.
Southern Cross Station (during the event)
Pedestrian Access
There will be no significant disruption to pedestrian access to and from Southern Cross Station during the event. Passengers should note that the route of the run passes to the south side of the station and turns right into Collins Street, where the road is closed.
Driver Access
Local traffic only will be allowed on the north-bound carriageway of Spencer Street, between Normanby Road and Collins Street. Spencer Street north of Collins Street is not affected.
Flinders Street Station (during the event)
Arriving into Flinders Street Station
Train services into Flinders Street Station are unaffected by the run.
Pedestrian Access
Between 9.15am - 11.30am we expect some significant disruption to pedestrian movement across Flinders Street and Swanston Street. This is when the bulk of runners will be travelling eastbound on Flinders Street before turning right into Swanston Street.
Pedestrian Access to/from the CBD
Passengers to/from the CBD must enter/exit the station via the Degraves Subway. This subway is accessed by stairwells in the centre of each platform and exits on the CBD-side of Flinders Street, between Elizabeth and Swanston.
Pedestrian Access to/from Southbank, Fed Square, RLA, Olympic Park etc
Passengers for Southbank, Federation Square, Rod Laver Arena & Olympic Park must use the Elizabeth Street Subway. This subway is accessed at the western end of the platforms and directs people to the river walkways.
Accessible Access
Passengers with mobility needs and people with disabilities will be directed to use the Elizabeth Street Subway pathway as detailed above to access in and out of Flinders Street Station.
Crown Casino
The Run for the Kids course will run along the length of Yarra Promenade (the river-side of Crown Casino) between Clarendon Street and Queensbridge Street. Participants are expected along this section of the course between 9.10am-11.10am. The following information will help visitors and staff alike to plan their movements and minimize inconvenience during the morning of the event.
Vehicle Movement
Whiteman Street will be open in both directions allowing full access to Crown.
Kings Way will remain fully operational which enables access to the car parks from the north side and also the south side.
Western Porte Cochere
The Western Porte Cochere will remain operational. Access is only available via the u-turn lights on Clarendon Street northbound. Clarendon Street will be local access only between Whiteman Street and the River. (ie No through road). (Refer Crown Casino & Flinders Street Station Map)
Eastern Porte Cochere
The Eastern Porte Cochere will remain operational. Access is available off Queensbridge Street (northbound only). Queensbridge Street will be local access only between Whiteman Street and the River (ie No through road). (Refer Crown Casino & Flinders Street Station Map)
Southern Porte Cochere
The Southern Porte Cochere will remain operational. Access is available off Whiteman Street.
Pedestrian Access
Pedestrian access in and out the Crown Casino complex will remain.
Pedestrian access in and out of the Crown Casino complex via Kings Bridge (crossing Yarra Promenade) will be disrupted between 9.10am-11.10am. Visitors are advised to use the east, west and south entry points in and out of the Crown Casino complex.
Docklands
A contra-flow arrangement will be installed on Harbour Esplanade in the northbound carriageway to enable continued access in and out of Docklands during the event. (Refer Road Closure Map). Delays are expected.
Docklands Access during the Event
Due to the extent of the Event, vehicle access to Docklands will be restricted between 7am and 12pm. Access to and from the entire Docklands precinct will be provided via Batmans Hill Drive from Wrundjeri Way.
